Basic Aid Skills Class
October 29, 2022 2:00 PM CST
Are you one who likes to be prepared for anything? Accidents don't come often with a warning. Through our Basic Aid Skills you will gain the knowledge needed to act quickly with what you already have on hand, when life catches you off guard.
MEET THE TEACHERS
Karie Sheets has been certified in trauma for 9 years and a nurse for 11 years. She has thoroughly enjoyed working in a hospital environment, and knows this is where she has had a team to lean on and a world of resources at her fingertips. Her passion is to teach others how to act in an emergency in order to make it to the hospital for further care. She is planning on walking us through the steps to stop bleeds.
Severe blood loss is one of the leading causes of preventable death. The fact is rapid bleeding can happen anywhere from doing dishes and cutting yourself on a knife to a hunting trip gone wrong. Knowing what to do to stop these bleeds can be life saving.
1. Never underestimate the power of direct pressure
Will the bleeding stop? What do I use?
2. Wound packing for those deeper injuries
How important is this step? Won't I cause further damage? What areas can be packed?
3. Tourniquet use - Life Over Limb
Won't this hurt? How to apply successfully? What if I don't have one?
Emmalee Burke (as I hope you know from previous reading 😜) has been using oils for almost 8 years and have been a Certified Essential Oils Specialist for the last couple of years.
Especially for the everyday, not so extreme cases - when care is needed, it would be nice to know how to care for it ourselves instead of running to a doctor's appointment. Even better when we can take a natural approach to this care with essential oils.
1. Cuts, Wounds, and Blisters
2. Burn Care
3. Allergies and Breathing Emergencies
4. Bug Bites and Stings
5. Bruises, Pains, and Strains
Our goal is that you will walk away from this class with the confidence to care for yourself and others. When life hits the fan, you’ll have the knowledge to prevent an injury from getting worse, preserve life, relieve pain, and assist in recovery. We don't pretend to know it all (not even a little bit!!!), but we are passionate about sharing our knowledge and we believe in pointing you in the right direction which includes sharing our resources. It's time to be in the right place, 421 East H Street, at the right time, October 29th at 2pm.
